| Originally
printed in the Cornish Magazine in eight parts.
The Mine Under The Sea eventually made it in to
book form and was first published in 1962. Out of
print for many years a local lady together with
help from numerous people has managed to get this
remarkable book published again.
The author Jack Penhale was actually
a gentleman named Raymond Harry and it is tales
from his early years underground in Levant mine
in the early 20th century that are told here. This
is a must read if you are interested in Cornish
mining. Imagine climbing 1200ft up the ladders in
a shaft in total darkness with water pouring over
you looking for a leaking pipe!
